Sony Xperia SP

Sony is one of the mobile phone companies that not only has amazing looking phones but also phones that are of great build quality.

Although Sony is usually known for their flagship phones, the mobile phone company also provides budget-friendly phones to the market.

Today, we are going to talk about the Sony Xperia SP. This is a budget-friendly phone offering and one that you might not have heard of.

This phone is not that popular in countries other than the US, but I think that the Xperia SP should be given the credit that it deserves.

Let’s start with the design of the mobile phone. The Sony Xperia SP comes with an all-metal frame that gives you a premium look and feel. Although it doesn’t have glass panels on the front and back cover, this phone is still protected by the chassis.

One design aspect that stands out with the Sony Xperia SP is the inclusion of the illuminated antenna located at the bottom of the phone. Think of this as the notification LED you normally find in other mobile phones, only this one looks sexier.

The Sony Xperia SP comes with a 4.6-inch LCD display with a maximum screen resolution of 720×1280 and a pixel count of 319ppi. It is a little bit on the low side when it comes to the display and I am surprised that this phone doesn’t have an IPS panel. Still, the colors are pretty okay, although, it would’ve been better if it was slapped with an IPS panel display.

Performance-wise, the Sony Xperia SP is also okay. It comes with a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor with clock speeds of 1.7GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU, and 1GB of RAM. Since the Sony Xperia SP caters the entry-level budget space, it is understandable that this phone lacks jaw-dropping features. This phone is still pretty capable for everyday light to moderate use.

As for the battery, the Sony Xperia SP comes with a 2370 MaH non-removable battery. Now, it might not seem a lot but the battery capacity should last you more than a day of use (thanks to the low screen resolution and the performance package I’ve mentioned earlier in this article).

The camera is pretty good considering the setbacks I’ve mentioned. This phone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.4, autofocus, and an LED flash. The front camera, though, is disappointing as it only produces VGA quality images (which means that photos taken with the front camera are grainy and noisy).

Still, the Sony Xperia SP comes with full 4G LTE capability. Since 4G LTE is the newest internet standard, I am glad that the Sony Xperia SP comes with it.

Although this phone is pretty okay, I would still get a mobile phone signal booster if I were you.

The Sony Xperia SP is Sony’s take into the entry-level bracket. Although it does lack some features, the phone looks and feels premium. I guess that is a good compromise.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

A certain niche company always has the main line of products they choose to release every year. This is especially true in the mobile phone niche, where different companies scramble to provide the best mobile phone on the market.

Today, we are going to take a look at another premium offering from Sony, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

With a moniker that has “premium” on it, it has to be something really special. In this article, we will find out more about the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and we will also find out if it is truly a premium phone (as the name would suggest).

The first thing we will talk about is the display. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is probably one of the first mobile phones out there to have a 4K Display. If you are a computer geek and enthusiast, you would know that 4K resolution displays offer stunning visual clarity. And you will also know that to achieve those impressive images, you would need a good monitor and an equally powerful computer.

But, for the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium to sport a 4K display, it just shows you right off the bat its prowess. Moreover, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a 5.5-inch display which is quite big for the pocket. This is already in the “phablet” category.

As for the resolution, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a 2160 x 3840 resolution, which translates into 3840 pixels drawn on the screen. The screen also has an 806ppi (or points per inch), which is quite a ridiculous amount for a mobile phone. This just means how impressive the display of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium really is.

Before you drool over your screen, let’s talk more about the Z5 Premium’s other features. This mobile phone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop. This mobile phone is also powered by a 3GB of RAM, which is more than you will ever need in a mobile phone, to be honest.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has 32GB of internal storage, but you can opt to put a micro SD card of up to 128GB is you so choose.

As for the camera, the Z5 Premium has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 5.1 front camera. The sensors that are included in the camera have been highly revamped, giving you the power to take professional-grade photos each and every time. Couple that with the 4K resolution display, and you’re in for a visual treat.

Now, to power all of the functions (especially the processor, camera, and of course, the display), you will need to have a hefty battery life. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium comes with a 3,430 MaH battery, one of the biggest battery capacities put in a 5.5-inch mobile phone.

With a slim form-factor, an impressive 4k Display, a camera that has amazing capabilities, and a more than capable hardware, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium really does live up to its premium name. But, you have to dole out a premium price as well, as this mobile phone costs a whopping $925 as of this time of writing.

Still, if you have the money, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium should definitely be considered when you are looking to buy a mobile phone anytime soon.
